A Quick Thanks!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for my Old Junky Windows in the February Finalists over at Saturday Mornings! I was up against some super creative projects and the competition was neck and neck in the final days. A nail biter to say the least. 
But, I’m thrilled to announce that my windows were awarded the 
Best of February 2011!

I cannot tell you how surprised I have been over the last week at the wonderful comments, features and awards I have gotten from both readers and bloggers. I’m so glad that you are enjoying my blog. That’s why I do it, so that I can share my ideas and projects and (hopefully) inspire you.

Thank you again for this award. I think it’s great that this award is given to little blogs like us to remind us that people are reading and people do like us!

The Best Birthday EVER!

So Yesterday I celebrated my 32nd birthday. Now I’m not one to make a big fuss about my birthday. I really wouldn’t even be telling you that it was my birthday except that it might just have been the best one ever!
Here’s why. . .

I woke up, went downstairs and opened this:

My first power tool! I got a mouse sander and a gift card to Lowes! Now, those of you who don’t know me, I am prissy and girlie. But this is what I wanted for my birthday. Why? Because now I can re-finish my kitchen cabinets!!

Next the boys and me went off to MOPS where the mommies made chocolate covered strawberries. Yum-o!
Then these great things happened to me (in the order that they occurred):

1. I won a subscription to two magazines from the K.I.S.S. giveaway over at the tattered tag.

2. My post about old junky windows was featured on Madigan Made.

3. I was featured on The Shabby Nest for my Nursery Knock-Offs post.

4. I Heart Nap Time featured me for my nursery post as well.

And finally, my wonderful hubby finished this already great day by dropping the kids off with his folks (for a sleepover) so that we could go uptown to eat at one of my favorites, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.

The best chopped salad ever.
Not to mention a perfect sizzling filet mignon drizzled with clarified butter. I was so excited to eat it I forgot to take a picture.

And my complimentary birthday dessert. The raspberry sorbet in the center was my favorite!

It was definitely a happy birthday for me! Thanks to all who helped make my day!

Wow, I’m so excited! I got an award from the writer of Blooming Homestead!! 
Little old me, got an award! Yes, she had to choose several blogs, but she found me, and liked me!

Ugh, I hate talking about myself, but here we go. . .

1- I am a SAHM of two boys (whom I love dearly). I desperately want a girl, but secretly know I’ll have 3 boys (or more).
2- I MET my hubby in college at a bar by the pinball machine. I fell in LOVE with my hubby a few days later when he played his guitar and sang for me. 
3- I love decorating and crafting and am constantly looking for something to re-do, re-arrange, or renovate in my home.
4- One of my favorite tools is a can of spray paint.
5- I’m am SUPER girlie, but this year for my birthday I asked for a mouse sander and a gift certificate to Lowes (who on earth have I become?).
6- Before staying home with my boys, I taught kindergarten.
7- My dream is to be featured in Southern Living or Better Homes and Gardens one day.
