Do you have someone you admire?
Someone you’re grateful for and want to show your appreciation this Valentine’s Day?
Well, this little treat will be just the thing to give your Valentine…
Peppermint Popcorn Balls with a Peppermint Heart!
First we’ll make that cute little peppermint heart…
If you’re like us, you have a million (possible exaggeration) candy canes left over from Christmas. This is the perfect opportunity to use them.
*Have your sweet little ones unwrap the mini candy canes for you.
*Have your sweet little ones unwrap the mini candy canes for you.
*Place them on a sprayed cookie sheet just like the picture below.
*Then place them in a 3000 oven for 5 minutes. Watch them though, you don’t want them to melt. You just want them soft enough to use your digits to push them together a little bit.
Sometimes they end up funky looking, but I think they are cute. You could even do this with a lollipop stick for a peppermint sucker. Please…I beg you to make sure you spray the pan because if you don’t, they are nearly impossible to get off of your sheet. A broken heart is not what you want on this day…I had to reheat mine to pop them off.
Now for the Popcorn Balls!
Peppermint Popcorn Balls
1 bag of mini marshmallows
6 tbs butter
1 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 tsp peppermint extract
1/2 cup unpopped corn kernels
15 mini candy canes crushed
*First, pop the corn kernels in a pot (with a lid of course) using a couple tablespoons of vegetable oil at the bottom of the pan. Set aside in a large bowl and top with crushed candy canes.
*Melt butter, marshmallows and chocolate in pan on stove, stirring constantly, over medium heat.
*Once it all is melted together, remove from heat and add peppermint extract.
*Pour over popcorn and stir it with a spoon that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
*Line work surface with parchment paper. Spray hands with cooking spray and grab handfuls of popcorn to roll.
*Place these sweet treats in a cute bag and hand out to friends and family.
It will be a “conversation heart” of a different kind.
I even used another peppermint heart and a crystal to jazz up the tag a little more.
