Let’s face it, when you have kids, date nights aren’t quite like they used to be. That is, if you have any date nights at all! Let’s think of some reasons we now put date nights last on our priority list: sitters can be expensive, dates are usually expensive, time doesn’t exist, and probably the most common reason – pure exhaustion! But “date night” doesn’t necessarily mean leaving your house and it definitely doesn’t mean you have to break the bank! Hubby and I made a pact – one night a week we would have date night and we would rotate planning the activity for the dates. Honestly, we don’t get around to it EVERY week, but we try to as often as possible. So here was one that I planned. Nothing extravagant, just a nice evening with my hubby.
Dinner and a movie in the comfort of your living room. On this particular night I just wanted finger foods, so I chose a few that I thought would be delicious and filling since it was our dinner. I went with buffalo wings, loaded potato skins, cheese cubes, crackers and hot crab dip.
A bottle of wine for me and ice cold beers for the hubby complete the meal. I left the movie selection up to my man. He brought home Date Night (how appropriate) and some other movie that I had no interest in. Date Night was cute and funny and made me happy to be having my date night AT HOME!
A couple other ideas
*Candle light fondue
*Game night (some of our faves: Wii, Scrabble & Scrabble Slam)
*Making dinner together
*S’mores around a fire
Plan a date night with your significant other! You need it! Avoid the crowds, save money, forget the sitter, do it at home!
I really liked that movie! I hope you had a great time!
And just want you to know that I would come over to babysit when you really need to get out of the house for date!
